I have become profoundly intellectual on the day to day happenings of football. Therefore being that baseball season is just about over (go Rays!) and the NFL season is exactly 37.5% over, I’m going to give my 2008 NFL football predictions. So here goes nothing: This I believe is going to come down to a two team race: The Bills and Patriots. Since the beginning of this millennium, the Patriots have owned this division. However, the Buffalo Bills are no doubt legit this year. Marshawn Lynch has had disappointing season thus far, but is still a bonifide stud. Trent Edwards and Lee Evans are also pretty studly. The defense is also above average, ranking in the top ten in yards allowed and passing yards allowed. I’m taking the Bills baby! I mean the Patriots do have an old defense and are missing some guy named Tom Brady… This is an easy pick. No need to talk about how good the Steelers are, just look at the rest of the division. The Ravens: Fantastic defense, no/zero/nada offense. The Browns: There all over the place, you can’t pick them. The Bengals: Are you kidding? Steelers win even with a struggling offense. I know the Titans are 5-0 (soon to be 6-0 after they beat the Chiefs) but for some reason I just don’t like them. I don’t like Kerry Collins (or Vince Young) and they have no receivers. The Colts are 2 games back but Peyton Manning is finally healthy and the Colts are starting to roll. This is arguably the second best division in football, and I could easily see the Jags winning the division but I’m sticking with consistence and the Colts. The Broncos are overrated and pretenders. The Raiders and Chiefs are pathetic. The Chargers were my Super Bowl Pick before the season started and I’m sticking with them to win the division (not so confident about the Super Bowl anymore though). This is by far; let me repeat that BY FAR the best division in football. Period. Anyone of these four teams could win the division. I’m taking the team currently in first and defending Super Bowl Champions. The Cowboys have the most talent but they are all over the place. Dallas is like a circus. I love Washington, and I’ll be rooting for them, but I just think they are one very small notch below the Giants and Cowboys. The Eagles can’t win unless Brian Westbrook gets healthy and fast. They are starting to slip. I’m taking big Eli and that stout Giants Defense (the Cleveland game was a fluke). I picked the Vikings at the beginning and I’m sticking to it. Though I’m rather scared of the Bears. They were supposed to suck, when did they get good? Gotta give props to Kyle Orton. Packers could easily win it too. I mean you don’t mess with Aaron Rodgers and Greg Jennings. You really have to give props to what Aaron Rodgers has done. Back to the Vikings, I just think they are the most talented. They have arguably the best RB in football right now (sorry LT but you’re hurt) and without a doubt the best run defense. The passing game and passing defense could kill them though. I’m sticking with the Vikings for now. Yes, they are in last. BUT, they have Drew Brees, Marques Colston is coming back, and Reggie Bush is beasting in the backfield. The defense could hurt them though. If the Saints don’t win, it is probably going to be the Bucs. They are pretty legit and don’t have a lot of holes. Good offense and good defense. The Falcons are pretenders and they will fall. The Panthers are legit and will contend, but I don’t think they have the firepower. My favorite sad-sap team is finally going to make it to the play-offs. So long have I waited for this! They are finally good, not the best but good. They have the best receiving core and a good old QB. The defense is better than advertised and as long as they don’t realize they are the Cardinals, I think they win the West. Plus, this division is pretty terrible. |

Football is definitely my second sport behind baseball. However, for about the past five years, I have played particularly close attention to the sport.
