No, this is not a false headline. This is fact. Fact. The Cardinals will win the Super Bowl.
It is a forgone conclusion. I have always loved the Cardinals. As I’ve stated before, the Cardinals are my favorite sad-sap team, and I picked them to win the division. Everybody doubted them. They made it. Everybody doubted them in the Wild Card Round, the Divisional Round, and the Championship Round. They defied and surprised everybody. Everybody. And now they are in the Super Bowl.
Look, what it comes down to is expectations. Nobody expected anything out of the Cardinals. Not even their fans thought they stood a chance. Cardinal stadium didn’t sell out in the Wild Card Round until the very last day. It’s pathetic and a shame. I love the Cardinals but even I had no faith. Mind you, I rooted for them in each round but, against the Panthers and the Eagles, I thought they had no chance. Nobody did. Nobody thought, realistically, the Arizona Cardinals would make it to the Super Bowl. Nobody. Yet, here they are. The Cardinals are one of the best sports’ stories in recent memory. In my mind, they rank second behind the unconceivable run by the Tampa Bay Rays (also a team I’ve always adored, even before they got good).
So here we stand now. Every media outlet continues to bash the Cardinals, continues to give them no respect. Apparently, twas luck against the Falcons, more luck against the Panthers, and blind luck against the Eagles (with the help of Donovan McNabb). We doubt them now as we’ve always doubted them. People say they are picking the Cardinals; people say they think the Cardinals will win. They lie. Deep, deep, deep down, everybody is assuming the Steelers will win. I’m lying to myself right now. I’m trying positively immensely to convince myself that the Cardinals will win. But do I really think that? I want to. I’m trying to. But a little annoying corner of the brain is telling me they don’t stand a chance. Yet, they’ve never stood a chance, and here they are. The Arizona Cardinals have to win this game. It only makes sense. It only makes sense to prove everybody wrong one more time. I mean, they are hands down the worst team to ever make it to the Super Bowl, right? Right? Wrong.
PS Larry Fitzgerald is a freakin’ stud. Last time I checked, he plays for the Cardinals. They have a chance.
PS2 I’ve never seen so many people board the bandwagon of a player like Fitz. It is rather annoying. He’s been a stud since joining the league in 2004. It’s amazing how quickly so many poser fans can jump on a bandwagon. All of a sudden, he’s the favorite player of 100 million people. Pathetic. He should have been this popular by 2005 if people just paid attention.
PS3 Who doesn’t want to see Kurt Warner win?
